Natomas Charter's PFAA and Sungurbey Academy in Nigde, Turkey to collaborated in April of 2010 to create an original performance, ONE VOICE. The schools were able to artistically illustrate eight core values that American teenagers found they share with Turkish teenagers and promote insight and understanding across all ethnicities and cultures.
In April 2010, impacted over 2,000 in the Sacramento Area as well as ambassadors from Turkey. Currently, we are hoping to expand the project to a second performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and cultural exchanges with Sungurbey Academy. The cultural exchange will focus on student created/run art classes that focus on the same values found in the performance. All of the lessons will be non-language based to bridge the gap. Both of these deliverables will be able to help us send our message about finding peace through understanding of commonalities between us, instead of focusing on our differences.
